Preserving pears and fennel seed in honey and raw apple cider vinegar in the sunshine yesterday. This is an oxymel made with a third honey and two thirds acv. Thanks @wondergut for the recent oxymel refresher on the @betonicaschoolofherbalmedicine Summer School. My cherry oxymel made in June is so good. I'm hoping these pears will be perfect with cheese in a couple of months time, and the sweetsour pear and fennel juice will be great with fizzy water or maybe with some sugar reduced into a syrup....the excitement and anticipation of putting stuff in jars. #preserving #pears #oxymel #microbes #harvest #glut #fennelseed #honey #applecidervinegar #doitnow
My Mum would stuff a marrow once a year and so today the marrow we have been calling Ash's marrow as the plant was a gift to Ash was duly sliced and stuffed with a spicy lamb mince and enjoyed with the last of the garden beans. #sundaysupper #mumsmarrow #giantveg #marrow #familyrecipe #somerset #gardenveg

Me and Marlies @wholesomeplaces in the bakery making fermented Piccalilli for @thelostkitchendevon. We spent the morning chopping and catching up (we hand chop) agreeing that kraut making requires pleasant company for the best results. Can you taste the difference?
