TRACEBRIDGE
We are fortunate to live in a beautiful wooded valley above the River Tone as it winds off the Brendon Hills down to the pastures of the Vale of Taunton. Our home is a former quarry cottage for the Tracebridge slate quarry, which operated until the 1930’s and was a focus of life in the parish along with a grain mill and saw mill that straddled the river. We look after the redundant quarry, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. There are peregrine falcons, owls, bats and snakes here.
PIZZA NIGHTS
We have made an informal woodland garden that sits alongside the bakery and our teaching space, Paradise. We open our garden and the bakery every Friday night from the end of March until the end of September and make pizzas for our friends and neighbours. What started as an impromptu occasional get together has become a local institution, which we are proud to continue. We have help from our WWOOFers who join us each year as volunteers working in the veg garden, bakery and on the never ending wood chopping and stacking.
Pizza nights start at 6.00 and finish when the last person goes home. Last orders are 8.30. We cook on a first come first served basis – when we get busy we might suggest you come after 7.30. Booking is essential as we don’t like food waste and don’t like to disappoint either. People say it feels like a cross between a Greek Taverna and a French Farm – they say they feel like they've been on holiday for the evening.
Call 01823 672301 or email [email protected] to book.
Often we have music – we put a note on our Facebook Page to let people know who’s playing. We have a minstrels policy – if you play you get a free pizza!
You can also order a takeaway.
SPECIAL EVENTS
In Summer 2015 we hosted our first wedding party, which was a truly splendid occasion. If you’d like to talk about a special event celebration between May and October, do come and visit.
We can provide seasonal local food from the bakery for up to 80 people, open fires, woodland strolls, picnic lawn and off-road parking in what people tell us is a ‘truly magical setting.’ We are principally an outdoor venue with some cover to cope with Summer showers.

PARADISE ROOM
Paradise is our light, airy room that feels like a cabin in the treetops. It is available for small group hire and provides a low-tech meeting space for up to 8/10 people for day and half-day events with or without great vegetarian food. WiFi, flip charts, wood burner, woodland to stroll in, but no fancy equipment. Facilities are across the terrace in the bakery block. People tell us Paradise is a calm and creative space where they can get to work on important stuff.
Rates are competitive as we like sharing this beautiful space. Please call Katie 01823 672301 for information.
STAY WITH US
We also provide two options for B&B accommodation. Go to the Stay page for more information or to book.
