Between March and November we are helped in the bakery by WWOOFers. This is an international scheme (see links), World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms, that matches volunteers looking for experience of growing and free board and lodging in return for work on organic farms and small holdings. Our WWOOfers have been fantastic, helping with our vegetable garden and animals, and in the bakery.
If you are interested in WWOOfing with us you need to register via their website first.
Apprentices
We have also been helped by a small number of apprentice bakers, from whom
we have learned as much as they have form us. We are self-taught rather
than formally trained bakers, but our apprentices have valued gaining experience
of running a small bakery and working with a wood-fired oven.
If you are already baking and would like to
extend your experience we can offer short apprentices on a similar basis
as the WWOOFers.
Because we are concerned about food miles, and want to support local village shops and enterprises, we only sell our bread within a ten-mile radius of the bakery. This covers Wiveliscombe, Wellington and Tiverton and the villages in between.
We deliver on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday. See bread for info.
