Sourdough Classes at Tracebridge Sourdough
Our next Sourdough Classes are on Tuesdays September 17th, October 15th,
October 29th, December 10th 10.30-5pm. If you are a group of five it is
possible to schedule a date that suits you .
Our classes take place in the bakery in the woods behind our home, just
outside Wellington. You will be baking in a working bakery rather than a
cookery school and you’ll get to learn a little of the business of
starting and running a small bakery. Gordon takes small groups (up to five
people) through the sourdough process from ‘starter’ to finished
loaf using the Blue Peter principle of ‘one I prepared earlier’.
This means you get to practice each stage of the process adapted to home
baking. You make wheat and rye loaves to take home and a pot of sourdough
starter.
“A big thank you again to you and Gordon for giving me such an amusing,
enjoyable and above all, educational day at your recent sourdough baking
class. The organisation of the day was first class and the time really seemed
to fly by. I thoroughly enjoyed all the delicious food, which would have
been worth the trip on its own, and thanks to Gordon's clear, concise and
highly entertaining advice, learned a lot about the mysteries of sourdough
baking. His enthusiasm was infectious, and made me even more keen to improve
my own baking skills. The bread we produced during the day was the best
tasting sourdough I have eaten, and as I'm sure you know, it keeps and freezes
exceptionally well.
All in all, it was a wonderfully enjoyable day and incredible value for
money. “
